Balloon Fest 2011

We went to the Lincoln Balloon Fest today.  Spent a lot of time browsing the art show and craft show/flea market.  Walked around the airport and saw some old planes and a lot of fun kites.

There was only one thing missing.  HOT AIR BALLOONS!  Apparently, we didn't get there at the right time to see the action.  We will keep that in mind for next time!

Photo of the Day

Another beautiful evening to go outside and have some fun with the dogs and the camera.

Teddy demonstrated how he likes to "twirl" for treats.

Annie - who only has to give "the look" to get her treats.

Clean Doggies!

I'm working on getting the dogs groomed - baths and haircuts.  Two down, one to go.

Here's Teddy with his new trim.

Even caught him mid-yawn.  Love these yawn photos!!!

Hipstamatic - Salvador 84 Lens

I accidentally switched to this lens at the State Fair yesterday, without realizing I had selected it.  I also didn't understand what style the lens was.  When I looked at the images, I kept seeing "something" strange about them.  That's the look.  Now that I understand the look, I love it.  Fun stuff.  Hipstamatic already has that element of surprise and this takes it one step further.

At the State Fair.

THE STORM

This storm arrived quickly.  It looked pretty threatening.

The temperature dropped and the wind picked up, but the storm moved to the northeast.

The southeast was still clear.  You can even see the moon!

We missed all of the severe weather (only got a light mist) and were treated with a rainbow at the end.  Cooler weather is on the way.

Just heard on the news that a tornado did touch down in this county, but in a rural area, causing no damage or injury.

Shakespeare Festival - Romeo and Juliet

Last night, we went to see Romeo and Juliet.  I wasn't sure how much I'd enjoy it, but I loved it!  I read it in High School, but seeing it on stage really made me understand it even more than when I read it.  Plus, they threw in some modern elements - such as playing Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream" song and having some of the characters wear jeans and Chuck Taylor's.

The theatre is outdoors on the grounds of a beautiful mansion.  (I'm sure the original actors in Shakespeare's time didn't have motorcycles and train whistles in the background!)  It was pretty warm last night, but they gave us paper fans, which helped a bit.

I took some pictures on the grounds before the show started.  Here are a few of my favorites.  I used my 50mm lens with all of them.

As you can see, I'm working on different types of editing.  I'm trying to reduce that "neon" green I've been getting lately and experimenting with other types of looks.  I need to get my monitor calibrated; I'm sure that will help me too!

Photo of the Day

Last Friday, DH and I celebrated our 16th wedding anniversary.  He surprised me with this awesome flower arrangement.  If you can't tell what it is right away ... look again.  It's a puppy!  The "vase" is a canvas tote bag, because I can always use more tote bags!

Scrapbook on the Road - Atlanta 2011 - Finished Book

I finally took photos of my finished Scrapbook on the Road.  I really enjoyed making the book - it was so much easier to journal memories as they happened rather than waiting until after I got home.  A lot of things that were included probably would have been forgotten had I not written them down throughout the week.

I did end up making more pages than I actually used in the finished book, but extra memorabilia was added to the pages.  You can see all of the original pages here.

This is what a brought for my scrap supplies.  It was easy to stash in a tote bag.  Note the stamp on the right never got used.

Here are the finished pages.  I am happy with the results!  Most of the pictures were taken on my iPhone (or given to me from others), even though both my DSLR and my P&S made the trip.  I used a lot of Ali Edwards Studio AE stamps from Technique Tuesdays and Smash book accessories.
